GROUPS AND WORKSHOPS

Our groups and workshops are designed to support individuals and couples through major life transitions, particularly the perinatal period and the early parenting years. We focus on sharing practical, relatable tools you can use in everyday life.

Current offerings include:

  • Partners in Mental Health Workshop

  • Becoming Us: A Psychotherapy Group for Couples in Transition to Parenthood (COMING 2026)

Psychotherapy groups are offered in partnership with either Kathryn or Courtney’s private practice (Activate Psychotherapy or Courtney Smyth Counselling). Registration is done through the hosting practice to ensure your information remains secure and confidential.

Partners in Mental Health: A Perinatal Mental Health Workshop for Expecting Couples

Virtual Workshop

2 hour workshop

COST: $100 (+ service fee when purchased through Eventbrite)

NOTE: We want this workshop to be accessible for our community, so if the cost feels out of reach, please contact us to explore options.

We recommend registering between 20–40 weeks pregnant. This workshop is designed for couples, so we ask that both partners attend together.

This workshop is open to all residents of Ontario.

Facilitated by:

  • Kathryn Palmer (Registered Psychotherapist)

  • Courtney Smyth Registered Psychotherapist)

Join our online educational workshop designed to help expecting couples feel better prepared for the emotional transition to parenthood. Most prenatal classes focus on pregnancy and birth—but couples are often left without support for the emotional adjustment of becoming parents. We developed this workshop so that both birthing and non-birthing partners could feel seen and understood as you step into this new chapter together.

REGISTER HERE

Topics we'll cover:

  • How to mentally prepare for birth so you feel more grounded and confident.

  • What to know about perinatal mental health (including common challenges and when to reach out for support).

  • Acknowledging the unique experiences of both birthing and non-birthing partners, so you can better understand each other and feel seen as you prepare for this transition together.

  • Exploring practical ways that non-birthing partners can support the birth process, both before and during labour.

  • Creating a birth guide together that helps you feel like a team going into this next chapter.

  • How to make informed decisions about your care, especially when things feel fast or stressful.

  • Simple, realistic strategies to prepare for birth and postpartum together, so you feel connected and supported as you welcome your baby.

Please note: This workshop is offered for educational purposes only. It is not a psychotherapy service and is therefore not eligible for reimbursement through extended health benefits plans.
